The company, which was founded in 2011, prides itself on using high quality ingredients and making all of its products in the United States of America.  

They also don’t believe in using fillers, so their product ingredient lists tend to be shorter and simpler than their competitors.  Their products aren’t just boring items for mundane use; the company likes to sell you the idea of being “pampered” and taken care of when you use their products.

As a fairly new company, Perfectly Posh is still on the up and up.

Analyzing trends on search engine traffic for the company’s name reveals that its popularity has been rising steadily since its inception.

Interestingly, the company has not seemed to pick up the wild seasonal swings in popularity that affect similar party-based multilevel marketing companies that sell gifts and personal care items.

The company’s business success is rising with similar swiftness: according to an article in Utah Business, Perfectly Posh reached $50 million in revenue only four years after its founding.

Products

The product selection at Perfectly Posh has you covered from head to toe, literally.  They peddle hair care products, facial scrubs and moisturizers, lip balm, body lotion, hand and foot creams, and everything in between.  

Unlike a lot of other personal care MLMs, Perfectly Posh’s products are competitively priced with what you’d find at a department store.

Their Impish Eyes under-eye cream, for example, contains a wide range of cosmetics and herbal extracts.  The company’s marketing literature highlights its white tea extract, caffeine, vitamin C, jojoba oil, and aloe vera content, yet a 5 fluid ounce tube only costs $16 retail.  Similar products from other MLMs cost several times as much.

Some of this has to do with the prescribed uses of the product: Perfectly Posh intends its colorful, pleasantly scented, amusingly-named products to be used frequently, for lazy sunday home spa sessions or mid-week facial maskings.  A high-end anti-aging serum might be used for special occasions only, or be targeted at a specific clientele (rich older people), and yet contain many of the same ingredients!

Jojoba oil, for example, is used as a primary ingredient in plenty of high end cosmetic products, and yet Perfectly Posh uses it in several inexpensive products to great effect.  

According to a 2003 review article detailing the use of a variety of plant extracts in cosmetics, jojoba oil is renowned for its non-greasy moisturizing abilities as well as its strength as an anti-inflammatory (which is great for, say, reducing puffy eyebags),.

Perfectly Posh sports a huge selection of products that cost between $8 and $20.  In fact, it’s virtually the whole selection.  

Typically, the problem with low-cost items like this are that your customer base runs dry pretty fast.  If you are selling kitchen knives or candles, for example, one household only needs so many before they are stocked up.  But with a cosmetic, especially one that is inexpensive, fun to use, and has quality ingredients, the odds of getting a regular flow of customers are much higher.

Compensation plan

Of course, your odds of making money are not going to be any good if the compensation plan is garbage.  What does it look like?

For starters, joining up is on the spendy side.  You need to purchase a starter kit for $99, which is steep for an MLM with such low cost products.  

On the bright side, you do get a lot of gear out of it.  This comes with a website for your customers to order from, but after three months, you have to pay for the website, which seems like an unfortunate way to cut into distributors’ profits.

When it comes to minimum volume requirements, Perfectly Posh operates on a six month cycle.  The sales margins are pretty relaxed; you only need to sell $300 worth of merchandise every six months to stay active and eligible for earning income.

Perfectly Posh also has a rewards/loyalty program, so make sure you don’t confuse the two.  The loyalty program operates on a points system and is separate from the distributorship program.

If you are a small-time dealer, Perfectly Posh operates on just a commission-based system.  For your first $1000 of lifetime sales, you earn 20% commission, which jumps to 25% after you crack that barrier.  Once you have sold $1000 worth of products, and you can maintain monthly sales of $500 or more, you can start earning commissions on your downline distributors.  

It’s a unilevel plan, which makes figuring out income a little easier.  Your commissions go three levels deep once you have $500 in monthly sales, though unfortunately the rates are very low: just 1-2%.  Once you get to a higher level, you can start increasing these rates through increasing your total team sales, but this takes a while.

Recap

Usually the income opportunity does not look too good with party-based MLMs that sell low-cost products because the absolute sales volume is too low to do much with.  But Perfectly Posh does have a few things going for it.  

For one, its products are high quality, fun and inexpensive: not an often seen combination.  Second, it’s definitely on the up and up.  It’s only a six year old company, so there is plenty of opportunity to get in relatively early, and also plenty of untapped market space.

The real downsides are with the compensation plan.  Perfectly Posh should be applauded for being transparent with the mechanics of it, and for adopting a lenient active status policy, but the very low commissions on downline sales are really going to hurt.  

The retail commissions are fine, but 1-2% just doesn’t make it seem like it’s worth the time investment to build up your sales team.  

The other major drawback is the high cost of entry, but despite that, it still might be worth a shot.  You could do far worse when choosing an MLM to get involved with.

But if you’re simply doing it for the money, there are better ways to kill your day job.
