A research-backed review of Bio X4 (is it a scam?)

Bio X4 is a blend of four major ingredients which possess health benefits like weight loss, energy boost and preventing cancer and cardiovascular diseases.

The four major ingredients of Bio X4 are: Colony Forming Units (CFU) of probiotic bacteria, an enzymatic blend of amylase and bromelain, Epigallocatechin Gallate, and a natural extract of Caralluma Fimbriata.

The supplement also claims to help the body against heart diseases and cancer.

Role of Bio X4 in preventing cancer

The ingredient which possesses anticancer properties in Bio X4 is EGCG.

EGCG is a catechin which is most commonly present in green tea. A scientific research was conducted to study the effect of EGCG in the prevention of different cancers and tumors in an individual.

This study was conducted on 10 polyphenolic compounds out of which one was EGCG. It was revealed from the study that EGCG had the most potent effect on cell cycle distribution and natural cell apoptosis. EGCG worked as an affective antiproliferative agent and potentiated the phenomena of cell apoptosis i.e. natural cell death in the body.

When the natural process of cell apoptosis is stopped or slowed down, there’s an abundance of unwanted cells in the body which start multiplying abnormally.

This process is called as hyperplasia. This hyperplasia of cells leads to the development of cancers and tumors. Hence, by potentiating the phenomena of cell apoptosis, EGCG prevents the occurrence of a number of cancers which include prostate, breast, mouth, colon, and pancreatic cancer [1].

Role of Bio X4 in preventing cardiovascular disorders

EGCG is also beneficial in enhancing the overall body metabolism and preventing the onset of cardiovascular diseases. A scientific study was conducted to evaluate the action of EGCG in this regard. It was a placebo-controlled and double-blind study. The test subjects were treated with 200mg of EGCG. At the end of the study, there was significant reduction in the weight and blood pressure of the test population. This is because EGCG helps in the breakdown and elimination of harmful lipids from the body.

These harmful lipids lead to a number of heart diseases like hypertension, myocardial infarction i.e. heart attack, angina, and heart failure.

This is because the fat deposition in the coronary arteries leads to the development of lipid clots and hardening of blood vessels called as atherosclerosis. This atherosclerosis of coronary arteries obstructs the flow of oxygenated blood to the heart which increases the stress on the cardiac tissues, leading to cardiac hypoxia. This decreases the cardiac output and causes high blood pressure and other heart diseases. Hence, by enhancing the fat metabolism, EGCG prevents the onset of heart diseases in an individual [2].

Role of Bio X4 in suppression of appetite

The major ingredient of Bio X4 which causes appetite suppression in an individual is caralluma fimbriata.

Caralluma fimbriata contains an important phytochemical called ‘pregnane glycoside’. This phytochemical causes appetite suppression by affecting the activity of brain’s hypothalamus.

Our natural appetite is regulated through the messages of hypothalamus. When we’re hungry, the hypothalamus sends signals to the appetite-regulating receptors to consume food. Similarly, when a person is full, the hypothalamus sends negative feedback signals to stop the consumption of food. Caralluma fimbriata manipulates the hypothalamus and intercepts the signals that are being sent by hypothalamus. This disruption of signaling through the hypothalamus curbs a person’s appetite even if their stomach is not full. Therefore, by suppressing a person’s appetite, caralluma fimbriata helps in the natural weight loss mechanism.

This suppression of appetite also helps in the cure of ‘comfort-eating’ mechanism which is usually generated due to psychological problems like stress, depression, and anxiety.

Role of Bio X4 in boosting energy levels

Caralluma fimbriata causes blockage of an enzyme citrate lyase. This enzyme is majoring involved in the storage of lipids in the body. Also, citrate lyase potentiates the synthesis of fatty acids which are the building blocks of lipids. When this enzyme is blocked, the storage of lipids in the body is reduced along with a massive decrease in the production of fatty acids.

Caralluma fimbriata is also involved in the blockage of coenzyme malonyl. This enzyme assists in the body’s fat generation mechanism. When both of these enzymes are effectively blocked and lipid production is stopped in the body, the body starts consuming its own lipid reserves.

When body’s natural lipid reserves are consumed, there’s massive release of ATP i.e. adenosine monophosphate.

This ATP is produced during the process of glycolysis and it’s the major energy reservoir of the body. This ATP potentiates a number of bodily mechanisms which include renal elimination, hepatic metabolism, alveolar function, and more. Hence, when great amount of ATP is released in the body, it provides a major energy boost and strengthens the working of different body organs.

A scientific research was conducted to study the effect of caralluma fimbriata on appetite suppression, anthropometry, and food intake. It was a placebo-controlled and double-blind study which was performed on overweight individuals. The total duration of study was 60 days. After the completion of this time period, it was observed that that BMI i.e. Body Mass Index of test population decreased significantly because of massive appetite suppression [4].

Takeaway: On the basis of the  research, it can be concluded that Bio X4 can be effectively used for the prevention of cancer and cardiovascular diseases in overweight individuals, as well as a weight-loss supplement and energy booster.

However, it’s recommended to start Bio X4 therapy after proper prescription from a registered medical practitioner in order to ensure the safety of the patient.
